Administrative Assistant Required

A full-time Admin Assistant is required to provide secretarial and administrative support to the Prince Edward Family Health Team (PEFHT).

PEFHT is comprised of 23 County family doctors supported by nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers, dietitians, and other clinical and administrative professionals who work from 5 different clinic locations; 4 in Picton and 1 in Wellington. Together, and in collaboration with the community, hospital and other local health organizations and professionals, we provide integrated, team-based, patient-centred primary care through direct office care and innovative, award-winning programs and services aimed at meeting the distinct health needs of the PEC community.  As a member of the PEFHT, you become part of our team, sharing a commitment and determination to fulfill our vision: to be partners in ensuring Prince Edward County residents have the best possible health throughout life.

The successful candidate will work primarily from clinic locations in Picton, and will support a team of PEFHT health professionals and the health programs and services they provide.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:  appointment scheduling; communicating with patients and the general public; working cooperatively with a multidisciplinary team; document production for health promotion activities; participating on committees; taking minutes; maintaining an organized filing system; and contributing to the maintenance of a smooth, efficient, and patient-centred office. The necessity to triage telephone calls and prioritize competing demands makes the need for initiative and problem-solving essential.

The responsible individual must also establish their own priorities to ensure that all deadlines are met and that the workload flows efficiently. The successful incumbent will exhibit a very strong service orientation; demonstrate the highest commitment to privacy and confidentiality; and be a flexible and supportive team-player.  A post-secondary diploma (medical secretarial office administration) with experience in a senior medical secretarial role in a primary health care setting are definate assets, as well as knowledge of and experience with electronic medical records and web-based applications.  Expert knowledge of a variety of computer software programs is essential.  Above average customer service, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are required.
