Store Forward Project for Dermatology

Available by referral from your PEFHT Primary Care Provider

The Prince Edward Family Health Team is working in partnership with the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) on this distance technology project. Health care providers use high-resolution cameras and monitors to take and view photographs of skin conditions. These digital images, along with patient health data, are stored on a secure server then securely forwarded to a dermatologist. The specialist assesses the skin condition shown in the photos, makes a diagnosis, and offers expert advice on how to treat the skin condition.

This project aims to:

  • Improve access to Specialists
  • Reduce the wait time for appointments with Specialists
  • Reduce the need to travel to a Specialist's office

There are future plans to expand this project to include Mental Health, Chronic Pain Management, and Wound Management.

PEFHT has OTN equipment available at 2 sites in Prince Edward County.
  • Sandbanks Medical Centre in Wellington
  • Harbourview Clinic in Picton
